Xanthi confirmed the news with this following statement:

“Xanthi FC announces the signing of a contract with Georgios Paraschos. He returns to Xanthi after nine years. His assistant will be Panagiotis Goutsidis.”

Xanthi did begin the season under the leadership of Kiko Ramirez, but after initially starting the campaign with surprise victories against AEK and Panathinaikos, the team subsequently fell horribly out of form and the Spanish manager paid the price. Xanthi currently occupy fifth place of the Super League with 19 points from 13 matches.

Paraschos, 67, was most recently the Asteras Tripolis head coach until June 2019. The veteran manager previously managed Xanthi in two seperate spells.

Xanthi will play against AEK at home next week in the Super League.
