On Friday, Xanthi released this following statement:
“Today, we announce the mutual termination of the contract with Mr. Georgios Paraschos.”
Paraschos, 67, became the manager of Xanthi in early December. However, Xanthi subsequently missed out on the Super League playoffs, finishing in 12th position of the regular season. Xanthi were docked 12 points as a result of their involvement in a multi-ownership case with PAOK and irregularities in their shares.
Initially, Xanthi had started the season under the leadership of Kiko Ramirez, notably beating AEK and Panathinaikos in Athens before the team fell out of form.
Xanthi will compete against Atromitos, AE Larissa, Asteras Tripolis, Lamia, Volos NFC, Panetolikos and Panionios in the playouts.
A replacement for Paraschos is yet to be announced.
