As expected, Giannis Petrakis will not continue his coaching career at PAS Giannina with the Epirotes officially announcing his departure on Thursday. In the announcement, the club thanked Petrakis for his years of service and named him as a special part of PAS Giannina’s history. The Ajax of Epirus went on to wish him the best in his career.

A statement from Petrakis was included where he thanked the club’s president, the players, his associates, the reporters, and especially the fans for their support over the years. He explained that his 5.5 years at PAS Giannina where full of love and respect and he was honored to coach the team. He ended by saying that PAS will always be in his heart and that the club was and always will be a big team.

Petrakis took over in February 2014 and led the club to successful campaigns during his time in charge, including qualification to the 2016/17 UEFA Europa League qualifying rounds. However, the 2018/19 season proved a troubling one for the Epirotes who talled 27 points with just seven wins, six draws, and 17 losses from 30 games. PAS Giannina claimed 14th place in this year’s Super League and were relegated to the second division for the first time since the 2009/10 season.

Petrakis, who was the longest serving manager at one club in the Greek top flight, recorded 63 wins, 60 draws, and 73 defeates from 196 games with PAS Giannina.
