Manos 6'

At the Zosimades stadium in Ioannina, Dimitris Manos’ early sixth-minute goal proved the difference between the two teams in a tightly-contested Matchday 17 affair, clinching a first three-point haul after they started the year with two defeats.

Apollon can consider themselves extremely unlucky, however, since just as they were pressing for a goal in the 75th minute, they had goalkeeper Vaso Vasic sent-off in controversial circumstances.

The Serbian shot-stopper came out of his box to block an effort on the break from Manos, and the ball hit the goalkeeper’s head rather than hands but the referee thought otherwise and gave him a straight red card.

The result lifted PAS up to 12th place on 17 points, while Apollon remain stranded at the foot of the table with just six points from 17 matches.

Goalless in Agrinio

Panetolikos 0 - 0 Xanthi

In Agrinio there was little inspiration and little to choose between hosts Panaitolikos and Xanthi as the two teams cancelled each other out in a 0-0 draw.

Chances were at a premium in a largely forgettable clash at the Panaitolikos Stadium, with both sets of players reduced to pot shots from distance in a match where defence was on top for long spells.

It’s a result which means Xanthi move up to fifth place, displacing Panathinaikos who play tomorrow, while Panaitolikos stay where they are for now in eighth.
