PERISTERI 72-67 MORNAR BAR (GROUP C)

Last week, Peristeri were beaten in Russia by Nizhny Novgorod, but they got back on track with a five-point triumph over Mornar Bar in Greece.

Peristeri, who came flying out of the blocks, immediately put themselves in a great position by claiming the first quarter 21-9. Later on, the Greeks did lose the last two quarters as Mornar Bar threatened a dramatic comeback, but Peristeri held on. They sit in fourth place of Group C, one point ahead of Bamberg.

Yanick Moreira grabbed 16 points for Peristeri.

Next week, Peristeri will face Bamberg at home in a crucial encounter, while Mornar Bar host Nymburk.

BRINDISI 93-91 PAOK (GROUP D)

PAOK were incredibly close to victory in Italy. In the dying moments, the Dikefalos tou Vorra seemed destined for a win as they held a slender one-point lead, but Tyler Stone drained a three-pointer with 1.2 seconds remaining on the clock to snatch a thrilling 93-91 triumph for Brindisi.

This marks the second consecutive defeat in the Basketball Champions League for PAOK.

At the moment, having only gained four victories in 12 games, PAOK languish in last place of Group D. Brindisi, for their part, are in fifth spot behind Besiktas.

Shannon Shorter was PAOK’s top scorer on the night with 26 points.

In their next game, Brindisi will face Szombathely at home, while PAOK travel to Zaragoza.

SAN PABLO BURGOS 93-76 AEK (GROUP B)

On the domestic front, AEK can’t stop winning, but it’s a different story in Europe. On Wednesday evening, the Enosis were handed another damaging loss in the Basketball Champions League, as San Pablo Burgos emerged victorious by a difference of 17 points at home.

AEK had conceded a loss to Bandirma in Athens last week.

The Kitrinomavri capitulated by losing the first period 24-13 and the second 30-21. In the second half, AEK did at least prevent the deficit from increasing, but the game was already over as a contest.

Nikos Zisis, making his maiden appearance for AEK since returning to the club, registered 16 points, four assists and two rebounds.

AEK, with seven victories and five losses in the tournament, occupy third place of the group. Burgos are second.

On matchday 13, San Pablo Burgos will make the trip to Hapoel Jerusalem, while AEK play against Vechta on the road.

PROMITHEAS SUFFER SECOND LOSS

Elsewhere, Promitheas suffered their second loss of the second phase of the EuroCup, as Venice emerged victorious by a score of 70-68 in Patras.

Following three rounds of play, Promitheas are in third place of Group F, trailing second-placed Brescia by one point. In their next game, Promitheas will compete against Venice in Italy, aiming to achieve revenge for this home defeat.
