Ponce surpasses Araujo in Super League scoring
This season, young Argentinian forward Ezequiel Ponce has been in superb form with AEK, scoring 12 goals in 17 Super League games to better the personal best set by Sergio Araujo.

In the summer of 2018, AEK fans were heartbroken to hear that beloved forward Araujo wouldn’t be returning to the Kitrinomavri for a third spell in the Greek capital, but they now have a new Argentinian hero. On loan from Roma, 21-year-old Ponce has been a superb acquisition by the AEK management, with the young forward scoring 12 goals and dishing out four assists in 17 Super League matches. He also has one goal in the Greek Cup.
We’re only in January, but Ponce has already bettered the statistics recorded by Araujo. In the 2017/2018 campaign, Araujo managed to score 11 Super League goals as AEK claimed the domestic title, however Ponce already has 12 markers to his name and he’s hit the target in the past four consecutive games.
At the moment, AEK sit in third position of the Super League, trailing second placed Olympiacos by six points as they make a bid to qualify for the UEFA Champions League. Ponce will look to continue scoring for fun when PAOK visit the Olympic Stadium on Sunday in a headline clash.
