After taking the Basket League by storm last season, Promitheas are onto bigger and better things this season with a strong start to their maiden voyage in the Basketball Champions League.

The Patras outfit sit comfortably in second place of Group D with a 5-2 record and in great position to progress past the group stage in their “rookie” season on the continent.

Head coach Makis Giatras has done an excellent job preparing his players for life in European competition as the Greek benchboss has Promitheas competitive on both fronts just three years since the club’s first-ever promotion to the Greek top flight.

Under the stewardship of club captain Nikos Gkikas, Promitheas have certainly raised plenty of eyebrows on the European stage. Not to be outdone, the likes of Rion Brown, Leonidas Kaselakis, and Christos Saloustros have all played leading roles in Promitheas’ strong start.

Perhaps the most telling part about Promitheas’ bright start to the European stage is in fact the strength of the Basket League’s depth. A league that is always known for its EuroLeague heavyweights like Olympiacos and Panathinaikos, Promitheas’ arrival on the Champions League stage comes just a handful of months after AEK were crowned champions in Athens.
