It’s official: PAOK are the 2018/2019 Greek Winter Champions. However, if they keep their unstoppable form in the Super League going, they will soon become champions of the country. On Sunday evening, the Thessaloniki outfit fell behind when Marko Nunic handed AEL a shock lead at the Toumba Stadium, but goals from Aleksandar Prijovic and substitute Chuba Akpom sealed a dramatic 2:1 comeback victory to take PAOK seven points clear of second placed Atromitos. The Dikefalos tou Vorra boast 12 victories in just 13 Super League matches and will be the leaders when 2019 begins.

Damir Canadi’s valiant Atromitos got back to winning ways after two consecutive matches without a win. Hosting Aris in Peristeri, Atromitos emerged victorious in a six-goal thriller, as Emanuel Sakic, Efthymis Koulouris (2) and Clarck N’Sikulu secured a 4:2 victory. Aris sit in joint sixth spot with Panathinaikos and Xanthi on 19 points, while Atromitos rise to second after Olympiacos could only draw 1:1 at Xanthi with Jagos Vukovic finding the net at both ends.

Panathinaikos surprisingly lost 1:3 at OFI, who rise to 11th place in the table after winning their second match of the season. AEK opened up a four point lead over Panathinaikos, Aris and Xanthi in fourth with a confident 2:0 win over PAS Lamia 1964, Levadiakos claimed a point at Panionios (1:1) and stay in 15th, and rock bottom Apollon Smyrnis continued losing with a 1:2 setback at Panetolikos.
