50 OLYMPIACOS VICTORIES AGAINST AEK

The Erythrolefki were simply too strong for AEK on Sunday evening. Taking advantage of AEK’s defensive lapses, Olympiacos claimed a confident 2-0 triumph at the sold-out Karaiskakis Stadium, as Ruben Semedo tapped the ball home from point blank range before Mohamed Camara curled a wonderful effort beyond Panagiotis Tsintotas. League leaders Olympiacos now boast a commanding eight-point lead over fifth-placed AEK.

This marked the 50th victory for Olympiacos against AEK in the domestic championship in 119 matches between the clubs. AEK have claimed 37 victories, while the remaining 32 games ended level.

AEK, who conceded their maiden defeat under the guidance of Nikos Kostenoglou, have not emerged victorious in any of their last 10 games against either Olympiacos, Panathinaikos or PAOK across all competitions. AEK’s next chance to snap this miserable streak will arrive on November 10 against Panathinaikos at the Olympic Stadium.

NEW UNWANTED RECORD FOR PANATHINAIKOS

Struggling Panathinaikos are continuing to fall to new lows.

On Sunday afternoon, the Athenians were careless against a dangerous AE Larissa side at the OAKA, conceding two cheap goals to Radomir Milosavljevic and Amr Warda as they suffered a damaging 2-1 loss. Incredibly, this was already Panathinaikos’ third home defeat of the season, with the Prasini having previously lost to OFI and Xanthi at home. Panathinaikos played to a 1-1 home draw against arch-rivals Olympiacos in September.

This is the first time in history when Panathinaikos have only claimed one point from their opening four home matches of the campaign. The previous record was two points in the 2012/2013 season.

AEL, in stark contrast, are flying high as they are now unbeaten in five successive Super League games. The Larissa-based organisation hadn’t beaten Panathinaikos on the road since 1991.
