Vassilis Spanoulis has added another milestone to his illustrious career after he made his 300th career appearance in the EuroLeague during Olympiacos’ defeat at the hands of CSKA Moscow on Friday night.
Spanoulis, who already holds several records in the competition, became the fifth player all-time to reach 300 career appearances joining the likes of former international teammate, Nikos Zisis, in the exclusive list.
While Spanoulis overtook Ioannis Bourousis earlier this season for the fifth-most appearances, Spanoulis’ 300th appearance in the EuroLeague was long delayed due to several injury lay-offs in the past year.
Spanoulis now ranks just 10 games behind Zisis for fourth all-time, though the all-time rank might be out of reach with Spanoulis a full 41 games behind the all-time leader Juan Carlos Navarro (341) with Real Madrid’s Felipe Reyes (339) quickly closing in on his retired Spanish counterpart.
Spanoulis is just one of a handful of Greek players to rank within the top-20 for appearances in the EuroLeague dating back to the 2000/2001 season. In fact, Greece has the most players in the top-20 with eight players in the list, while Spain ranks second with four players in the top-20.
