Super League issue appeal against relegation/promotion playoff decision
As promised, the Super League organisation has taken the case concerning the relegation/promotion playoff to court, pressing to overturn the decision made by the Hellenic Football Federation (EPO).

Last week, the EPO revealed that it had granted the Football League’s request for a relegation/promotion playoff to take place between the club in 13th position of the Super League and the team in second place of the Football League. However, while expressing its strong opposal to the proposal, the Super League organisation has taken the matter to court.
With the Super League participant list set to be cut from 16 to 14 for the 2019/2020 season, clubs in 14th, 15th and 16th positions will all suffer automatic relegation and the winners of the Football League will be promoted. Nevertheless, if the relegation/promotion playoff goes ahead, there is a risk of four clubs being relegated from the Super League and two Football League teams promoted.
On Tuesday, the Super League formally issued an appeal to the Arbitration Court which asks to banish the relegation/promotion playoff and simply have three teams relegated and one promoted.
The appeal states that the decision to stage a relegation/promotion playoff is unlawful given that it was announced just one day before the 2018/2019 Super League campaign began. Initially, AE Larissa and Apollon Smyrnis suggested postponing the start of the season, but taking into account the short notice, the Super League Board of Directors rejected their idea.
According to reports, the case will be judged next week.
