Avgenakis, the Deputy Minister of Culture and Sport, confirmed that Super League clubs can return to training with groups between six and eight players from May 5:

“From May 5, the training of football clubs competing in the highest division will be allowed in groups from six to eight players. It will be about fitness, strengthening and improving technique. The resumption of tournaments will be behind closed doors. Organising authorities will decide whether they cancel or complete competitions.”

There are plans for the 2019/2020 playoffs and playouts to begin at the end of May or the start of June. Only Panathinaikos, Panionios, Panetolikos and PAOK have refused to support the resumption of the Super League season.

Reports from media outlets have subsequently confirmed that clubs have already put plans in place for the training process.

AEK, who chasing second position and a berth in the 2020/2021 UEFA Champions League, will return to their training base at Spata on Tuesday. Massimo Carrera held a video conference with his assistants yesterday as the preparations for the first stage of the training process are finalised. AEK doctor, Charis Lalos, put forward his proposals concerning the hygiene procedures to ensure the safety of players and staff.

In more positive news for AEK, both Dmytro Chygrynskiy and Konstantinos Galanopoulos are back to full fitness after injuries, and Nelson Oliveira is eligible to train with the team in Spata after completing his 14-day quarantine following his return from Portugal.

It has also revealed that Olympiacos, Aris and Panathinaikos have already fully prepared their training sessions for Tuesday. Aris will reportedly train in three separate groups, while Panathinaikos will test all players and staff members for the coronavirus.

Olympiacos head coach, Pedro Martins, has maintained contact with his assistants and players via video calls during the lengthy break. The Super League leaders, boasting a huge 14-point advantage over second-placed PAOK, are also waiting to see if they will be able to continue their UEFA Europa League adventure. The first leg of their Last 16 tie against Wolverhampton Wanderers in Piraeus ended level at 1-1.

The second game against Wolves will be played no earlier than late July.

In accordance with the new health regulations, all players must take their own clothes home to wash, and they won’t be able to shower at the training centre.
