Since winning her first medal at the 2014 European Championships in Zurich, Stefanidi has won a medal in a major competition for six consecutive seasons. She has one Olympic medal (gold), two World Championships medals (gold and bronze), two World Indoor Championships medals (two bronze), three European Championships medals (two gold and one silver), and two European Indoor Championships medals (gold and silver).
Since Zurich 2014, Stefanidi has only failed to win a medal in a major competition on two occasions. First, she failed to qualify for the final at the 2015 World Championships in Beijing. Then, earlier this year, she placed fourth at the European Indoor Championships in Glasgow. Stefanidi’s consistency in the women’s pole vault has been unmatched by any other female pole vaulter during this era, and the Greek is showing no signs of stopping anytime soon. Next year she will have three major competitions to look forward to, as she is expected to contend for medals at the World Indoor Championships, the Olympics, and the European Championships.
