In men’s water polo, this was the ninth European final in club history. The Erythrolefki have won three European trophies. Two of these came in 2002, winning both the Champions League and the Super Cup, and the other in 2018 with the Champions League crown. Olympiacos have previously lost six European finals in men’s water polo, including the 2001, 2016, and 2019 Champions League finals.

The men’s volleyball team has won two European trophies, in 1996 (CEV Cup) and in 2005 (CEV Top Team’s Cup). They lost their five other European finals appearances.

The women’s volleyball team won the CEV Challenge Cup in 2018, for their first European trophy in history. They previously had one other final, which was 2017’s Challenge Cup which they lost to the same team they beat the following year (Turkey’s Bursa).

The women’s water polo team came up short in the final of this year’s LEN Euroleague, marking their fifth loss in a European final in club history. The women’s water polo team did win three European titles though, one in 2014 (LEN Trophy), and two in 2015 (Euroleague and the Super Cup).

The other sport where Olympiacos have made European finals is in the Euroleague for men’s basketball. The Erythrolefki came up short in five Euroleague finals but did manage to win three of them in 1997 and back-to-back titles in 2012 and 2013.
