Football is gradually returning. As a result of the coronavirus pandemic, teams in Greece were prohibited from training together after the season was suspended in March, but clubs are now returning to action after the Hellenic state issued the green light for group training sessions to resume in accordance with the new health and safety protocols. There is hope that the Super League playoffs and playouts will be able to begin in June.

On Monday, AEK posted footage of their players being tested for COVID-19, before the first training session took place two days later after all of the results were negative:

Further north in Thessaloniki, PAOK also returned to team training on Wednesday, with head coach Abel Ferreira notably sporting a mask with the club’s logo:

Fellow Thessaloniki-based club Aris also posted images of their maiden work-out since the lengthy break:

Panathinaikos, who published images of their players undergoing coronavirus tests at the start of the week, began training in groups this morning at their base in Koropi:

Reports have stated that league leaders Olympiacos, boasting a huge 14-point advantage over second-placed PAOK and still involved in the UEFA Europa League, began their training process on Wednesday at their base. Players worked out in three separate groups.

AE Larissa and Xanthi have also been pictured training:

Clubs competing in the Super League 2 and Football League are pushing the government for permission to restart training sessions as well. The 2019/2020 Gamma Ethniki season, however, won’t resume after the Hellenic Football Federation decided to end the tournament
