Olympiacos full-back Konstantinos Tsimikas has been included in the UEFA Champions League Rookie Team of the Group Stage.
According to whoscored.com, a website which evaluates players’ performances based on their statistical showings, Tsimikas was one of the best 11 rookie players of the 2019/2020 Champions League group stage. The likes of Benjamin Pavard, Papu Gomez and Erling Braut Haaland have also been included in the rookie team of the group phase:
Tsimikas, 23, has been a fantastic performer for Olympiacos in the current campaign. So far, the talented left-back has made a grand total of 34 appearances across all competitions, contributing with six assists. His energetic, enthusiastic way of playing offers a potent attacking threat on the left wing, and the Greek international is also solid defensively.
In Group B of the Champions League, Olympiacos gained four points from six matches against Bayern Munich, Tottenham Hotspur and Red Star Belgrade, finishing in third position and subsequently dropping down into the UEFA Europa League. Tsimikas dished out one assist while competing in all six Champions League group games.
On Thursday, Olympiacos will look to keep their continental campaign alive in the Europa League, as they travel to Arsenal needing to overturn a one-goal deficit from the first leg in Piraeus.
Transfermarkt values Tsimikas at 4.5 million euros. Napoli were reportedly highly interested in signing Tsimikas in the recent winter transfer window.
