U17 team placed in intriguing Elite Round group

Greece have been placed in a group with Ukraine, Turkey and Belarus in the Elite Round of the 2020 UEFA U17 European Championship qualifying process.

Placed in Pot A for the draw, Greece U17 were subsequently drawn into Group 1 of the Elite Round alongside Ukraine, Turkey and Belarus. The host nation for all group games is yet to be named by UEFA.

2020 UEFA U17 European Championship Elite Round regulations:

• The eight elite round group winners and seven runners-up with the best records against the teams first and third in their pool will join Estonia in the finals from 21 May to 6 June.

• Spain and England received a bye to this round.

In the first stage of qualifying, Greece claimed a maximum nine points from three games against Germany, Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan. Ukraine tallied seven points, Turkey earned six and Belarus picked up four in their respective groups.

UEFA hasn’t confirmed the match dates.

DRAW MADE FOR 2021 U17 EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIP QUALIFYING

At the same time, the draw for the first stage of 2021 UEFA U17 European Championship qualifying was held, with Greece pitted against England, Azerbaijan and San Marino in Group 8. The Greeks will be the hosts for all of the group matches.

Incidentally, the 2021 U17 European Championship will be hosted by Cyprus.

2021 UEFA U17 European Championship first qualifying round regulations:

• The top two in each group and four third-placed teams with the best record against the leading pair in their section join the Netherlands and Spain in the elite round in spring 2021, which will then produce Cyprus' 15 finals opponents.

GREECE U19 DISCOVER 2021 EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIP QUALIFYING OPPONENTS

The under 19 Greek national team, not involved in the Elite Round of the 2020 European Championship, will play in Group 8 of the first round of 2021 UEFA European Championship qualifying against France, Azerbaijan and Moldova. The Moldovans will be the group hosts.

2021 UEFA U19 European Championship first qualifying round regulations:

• The top two in each group and the third-placed team with the best record against the leading pair in their section join top seeds Portugal in the elite round in spring 2021, which will produce Romania's seven finals opponents.
