Vasiliadis included in latest national team squad

The Hellenic Football Federation has revealed the squad list for the upcoming UEFA Euro 2020 qualifiers against Armenia and Finland, with Sebastian Vasiliadis a notable inclusion.

Vasiliadis, 22, has caught the eye with strong performances with Paderborn in the Bundesliga. Although he was born in Germany, Vasiliadis does come from a Greek family, and he is now eligible to represent Greece as a senior international after he recently received citizenship. Vasiliadis is a central midfielder who likes to create.

Vasilis Barkas, who has been on the sidelines for AEK with a broken finger, is back in the team. Charalampos Mavrias of Omonoia has been given a chance by head coach, John van ‘t Schip.

Here is the full list of players eligible to compete in the two Euro 2020 qualifiers against Armenia in Yerevan (November 15, 19:00) and Finland in Athens (November 18, 21:45):

Goalkeepers: Odisseas Vlachodimos (Benfica), Vasilis Barkas (AEK), Alexandros Paschalakis (PAOK).

Defenders: Michalis Bakakis (AEK), Konstantinos Tsimikas (Olympiacos), Dimitris Giannoulis (PAOK), Leonardo Koutris (Olympiacos), Pantelis Hatzidiakos (AZ Alkmaar), Vasilis Lampropoulos (Deportivo), Dimitris Siovas (Leganes), Konstantinos Stafylidis (Hoffenheim).

Midfielders: Charalampos Mavrias (Omonoia), Carlos Zeca (FC Copenhagen), Konstantinos Galanopoulos (AEK), Dimitris Kourbelis (Panathinaikos), Andreas Bouchalakis (Olympiacos), Sebastian Vasiliadis (Paderborn), Petros Mantalos (AEK), Tasos Bakasetas (Alanyaspor), Giannis Fetfatzidis (Aris), Giorgos Masouras (Olympiacos), Dimitris Limnios (PAOK).

Forwards: Anastasios Donis (Reims), Efthymis Koulouris (Toulouse), Vangelis Pavlidis (Willem II).

Willem II representative Marios Vrousai is out with injury. Bayer Leverkusen defender Panagiotis Retsos has been called up to the under 21 Greek national team for an important 2021 UEFA European Championship qualifier against Scotland.

Greece currently sit in fifth place of Group J in Euro 2020 qualifying with eight points from eight games.
