Xanthi and Asteras Tripolis played out a 0-0 draw on Saturday in what was an instantly forgettable SuperLeague clash at the Xanthi FC Arena in Pigadia.

Chances were at a premium in an ill-tempered match between these two mid-table rivals which was low on quality and full of niggly fouls, with nine yellow cards shown and three sendings off.
Asteras were the first to be reduced to 10 men when Franco Bellocq received his marching orders for picking up a second booking with just four minutes left.
Then after the final whistle was blown, Xanthi’s Petar Durickovic and Asteras’ Nikos Papadopoulos were both given red cards for a scuffle.
The result leaves Xanthi still in eighth place, despite the face that they have just two wins from their last 10 matches, while Asteras are 11th just three points further back.
