2023 Stanley Cup News You May Have Missed

The Stanley Cup just concluded, and it was fantastic. From a daughter celebrating with his father’s win to a coach finally putting his name in the Stanley cup, a lot of drama has concluded along with the Stanley Cup. There are a lot of things that we have to cover, so let's start right away.

Pietrangelo Celebrates Stanley Cup Win with Daughter

As Pietroangelo stood over the ice amidst the chaotic celebration after winning the Stanley Cup, the player held something valuable with a smile. And no, it wasn't the Stanley Cup but his daughter, Evelyn. Earlier this year, his daughter's health scare affected Alex so much that people suspected he wasn't ready to face the enemy team in the upcoming Stanley Cup. But he was so happy last night that his voice cracked as he interviewed his daughter.

"This is the most surreal moment in his life. To have her (Evelyn) in my arms, celebrating Daddy's Stanley Cup win, just to celebrate anything…." He paused as his emotions welled up behind his eyes as it wells up. Vegas defeated the Florida Panthers 9-3 in game 5 in the Stanley Cup Final. With this victory, the team won the Cup in its sixth season since it was established.

"I never envisioned a moment like this back then. And now, to win a Cup and have her running around the ice to celebrate with us, I mean, dreams come true. And this is a dream." Evelyn caught the flu in late November last year, or so the family thought. Unfortunately, it turned into encephalitis, which is almost a death sentence for a child.

Thankfully, it was soon gone, and Evelyn took months to recover. And last night, she was just like a normal kid who went to celebrate his father's win with him.

Eichel Savors Stanley Cup Win

Jack Eichel always hoped that he would get this chance to have the opportunity to reach the Stanley Cup playoff and, of course, win the championship. Moments after his team's win against the Florida Panthers, the forward, who hadn't been in the playoffs in the first seven seasons of the NHL, was asked if this was how he thought it would be.

"I'm going to soak this one in a bit, and I'll let you know." It was truly a joyous moment for Eichel as he was still both in shock and euphoria that they had won the Stanley Cup. Whether it was to score or setting up his teammates in the Golden Knights to score, Eichel's performance was tremendous. He led the NHL with an impressive 26 points with 20 assists and six goals, boosting their NHL odds in the market.

During the Final, Eichel had eight assists, tied to one of the most active players in the league, Mikko Rantanen, who also had eight assists against the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Bruce Cassidy Realizes His Dream of Winning Stanley Cup

When Bruce Cassidy turned his phone on just mere hours after being fired as the coach of the Bruins, there were already four inquiries asking if he was interested in being the coach of their teams. And, of course, the Vegas Golden Knights were among them.

Of course, as we all know, he landed in Vegas, which is, apparently, the best choice. "He's like, 'This is my shot. I've looked at this team. This is my shot. If you're okay with it, I want to go to Vegas,'" his Julie, his wife, recalled. After that, the rest of the family gave their blessing, and the rest is history as one year later, or rather one day before a year has passed before that moment, he is now lifting the Stanley Cup with the Vegas Golden Knights.

"It could be the best thing that ever happened to my career," Cassidy stated when he was fired from Boston. All his friends and family were there to celebrate it with him. At first, he stated that it was quite hard, as he had to move his family from Boston to Las Vegas a year ago to be able to work with the team.

However, little did most fans know Cassidy already knew what it was like to lift the Stanley Cup. In 2011, he was an assistant with Providence of the American Hockey League. He was put in charge of the team's Black Aces after most of them left the ice. However, that was not what Cassidy wanted. He stated that he wanted his name on the Cup. He wasn't shy about saying it, either.

He thought it would happen in 2019, but it was a loss. He took the loss pretty hard. However, when July 14 rolled around, the sting of his loss dissipated as he finally put on his name on the Stanley Cup.

Final Words

From family problems to career ones, a lot of drama concluded when the Stanley Cup finished. With the win of the Vegas Golden Knights, many people expect them to do good in the next regular season. We're still a long way from there, but now, let's celebrate the Vegas Golden Knights and their Stanley Cup win.
