Euros 2020 Star Players

Euros 2020 Star Players

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’re probably aware that we’re almost through the 2020 Euros, only mere matches away from crowning this year’s winning team despite being delayed for 12 months due to the Covid-19 global pandemic that struck in early 2020.

Something you may not already know, which can help ensure the success of any bets you’re planning on placing on the remaining games, is who are the star players of the 2020 Euros?

In addition to checking the Euro 2020 odds, looking into the star players of 2020 will give you a better indication as to which players are likely to perform well and can inform your wagers.

Before we go any further, we’d like to give an honorable mention to Denmark who has gone on to play superbly in the Euros since the collapse of their teammate, Christian Eriksen, after he suffered from a cardiac arrest on the pitch mid-game. What a way to do him proud!

Now, let’s take a look at some of the star players of the 2020 Euros.

Star Players

Ignore their past performances and their rankings in previous seasons - today we’re looking specifically at the players who have stood out during the 2020 Euros and made their mark.

1. Romelu Lukaku - Belgium

If you’re looking for a player who poses a serious goal threat to whoever the opposing team is, then look no further than Lukaku. Despite underachieving in previous seasons, Lukaku is coming into his own and has solidified his status as one of Belgium’s leading goal scorers.

2. Lorenzo Insigne - Italy

Another goal-scoring star of the 2020 Euros has to be Lorenzo Insigne which is a far cry from the 36 minutes he played for Italy in total during the quarter-finals of Euro 2016. He started for the first time in the Euro match against Turkey helping to beg a 3-0 win for Italy.

3. Kyle Walker - England

As one of the most renowned right-backs in European football to this day, Kyle Walker has only improved under Pep Guardiola’s management. His speedy recovery pace is a useful asset in any game and has proven Walker’s worth many times during the 2020 Euros as well as throughout his career, as does his ability to bomb forward from his starting position.

4. Gerard Moreno - Spain

Although the team on the whole hasn’t quite lived up to expectations this season, Spain has been putting on a better performance than they were playing between 2008 and 2012.

For Moreno personally, the Euros 2020 has been one of his best-ever professional seasons which has contributed to his status as one of just three players to have achieved over 40 La Liga goals, joining the legends that are Lionel Messi and Karim Benzema.

5. Kylian Mbappe - France

By the age of 22, Mbappe is already well on his way to becoming one of the world’s best players, which has been demonstrated throughout the 2020 Euros, despite the team’s recent defeat. The young striker is one of France’s biggest threats and is one to watch.

6. Marco Verratti - Italy

Another great player on the Italian team this year is Marco Verratti, a midfielder who manages to remain one step ahead of the opposition at all times. He has a talent for spotting passes and executing them well, despite a recent injury that he hasn’t let hold him back.

7. Jack Grealish - England

The Brits are already telling themselves that “football is coming home” this year, and if it does, it’ll be in no small part thanks to Jack Grealish who has been a delight to watch this season. His inventive passes and dribbling displays show possession skills that are bound to come in handy throughout his career just as much as it has benefitted him this season.
