Olympiacos Close in on Playoffs Home Court Advantage

Aris 70 - 74 Olympiacos

After an important win in the Euroleague against Real Madrid, Olympiacos defeated Aris, in Thessaloniki, 70-74 and essentially clinched home court advantage for the Basket League Playoffs. Two wins from their last two games will give Olympiacos the advantage in the post season.

The final “derby” of the regular season took place at the Nick Gallis Hall in Thessaloniki where Aris hosted Olympiacos. In a thrilling match Aris led Olympiacos 62-58 with 3 minutes remaining. The Erythrolefki were able to cut the deficit to one point before Papanikolaou made a clutch three-pointer with 1:15 remaining to give the visitors the two point lead. From there, Olympiacos was able to convert their free-throws giving them an important victory. The win essentially gives Olympiacos home court advantage in the Basket League playoffs as only two games remain in the regular season.

Spanoulis lead Olympiacos with 17 points and 11 assists while Papanikolaou and Warrick had 12 and 10 points, respectively. The top scorer for the losing side was White with 17 points while McNeal had 16 points.
