This following statement was released by AEK on Friday:
“AEK FC announces the signing of Petar Karaklajic from FK Proleter Novisad, a team of the Serbian Super League. The 20-year-old footballer has signed a five-year contract with our team until June 2025, choosing the number 69 which he has always used so far in his career as a professional.”
“When looking at the Olympic Stadium from this office, I feel great motivation to begin playing for AEK,” stated Karaklajic when speaking to the Athens-based organisation. “I already feel really happy here. I want to prove to the AEK coach that he was right to choose me. AEK is a huge club which doesn’t need any introduction, I have seen just how passionate the supporters are by watching videos on the internet. I have transferred to AEK because I believe in myself. I believe that I am a technically good player with speed, but the coach will judge me.”
Karaklajic mainly plays on the left wing. Full of skill and pace, the 20-year-old attacker impressed with Proleter in the 2019/2020 Serbian Super League campaign, tallying three assists in nine matches. Technical director Ilija Ivic has signed Karaklajic with a view to the future.
