Watch LIVE from AGONAsport: Olympiacos - PAOK, Greek SuperLeague matchday 5 derby on Sunday, September 30th. Details here.

The reigning Greek champions started the 2018/2019 campaign in brilliant fashion, but they’ve endured a difficult couple of weeks, falling 0:3 to Ajax in the UEFA Champions League group stages and dropping a bitter 0:2 defeat against PAOK at the Toumba Stadium. A trip to Heraklion to play newly promoted OFI was never going to be easy, however AEK calmly coped with their task, breezing past the hosts 3:0.

Anastasios Bakasetas gifted AEK the perfect start midway through the first half, sending a stinging drive from distance beyond the outstretched palms of home goalkeeper Dimitris Sotiriou. Seven minutes later, OFI defender Dimitris Komesidis was handed his marching orders when hauling Viktor Klonaridis down, and it took AEK an instant to double their money as Rodrigo Galo fired an unstoppable free-kick into the top right corner.

In complete control of proceedings, the Kitrinomavri practically ended the game as a contest on 65 minutes, with Argentinian striker Ezequiel Ponce bundling the ball over the line after Petros Mantalos forced it across goal. AEK will now prepare to face Benfica in a decisive Champions League meeting.
