Aris have improved greatly since Michael Oenning became their head coach in October. Unbeaten in five successive Super League games, Aris have risen to a credible fifth position of the standings, only trailing third-placed AEK by two points. The Thessaloniki-based outfit particularly impressed during a 1-1 draw at AEK last week, even taking the lead following the issuing of a red card to Brown Ideye.

Statistics provided by sport24.gr state that 90.1% of Aris’ players in their games are foreign - the seventh highest percentage across Europe. 95.4% of the Aris team against Olympiacos on October 6 (1-2) was from overseas, with Giannis Fetfatzidis the only Greek player included in the starting line-up. Fetfatzidis was then substituted in favour of Daniel Mancini at the half-time break.

Interestingly, six Cypriot teams are among the top 10, with AEK Larnaca leading the way with a high percentage of 92.7. Pafos are just behind at 92.6%.

Turkish organisation Alanyaspor, who have Georgios Tzavellas, Manolis Siopis and Tasos Bakasetas on their books, occupy sixth place of the list with a percentage of 90.2%. Slovakian champions Slovan Bratislava are the only club in the first 10 places not from Cyprus, Greece or Turkey.

With a percentage of 28.6%, Atromitos are currently using less foreign players than any other Super League club.

List of the 10 European clubs with the highest percentage of foreign players:
