According to the latest reports, Aris are still yet to pay off debts owed to players who represented the club a number of years ago, with the matter threatening to result in the Thessaloniki-based organisation being docked three points from the 2019/2020 Super League table. The debts supposedly add up to a grand total of 1.5 million euros.

Aris owner, Theodoros Karipidis, was reportedly informed of the matter by FIFA during November 2019. However, Aris are still yet to react, and they will be deducted three points from the standings if they do not pay off their debts in the near future. Aris, for their part, have denied any wrongdoing.

In the Super League regular season, Aris picked up 34 points from 26 games to qualify for the playoffs in sixth position, however they would slip down into the playouts behind Atromitos if they suffered a three-point deduction.

At the weekend, Aris were meant to play against OFI in the opening round of the playoffs, however the tournament was suspended in light of the coronavirus pandemic which is continuing to cause unprecedented disruption across the world.
