Atromitos see off Xanthi in Peristeri

Atromitos clinched a vital 1-0 win over Xanthi at the Municipal Stadium of Peristeri on Sunday as the Athens club boosted their last-minute chances of making the Playoffs, while Volos drew 0-0 at home to Larissa, and Panetolikos ran out 1-0 winners against Panionios.

Thanasis Androutsos scored the only goal of the game for Atromitos to clinch all three points for Savvas Pantelidis’ side, who moved level on 29 points with Xanthi with one match to go before the end of the regular season.
Atromitos just about deserved their win in what was a closely-contested Matchday 25 contest, and depending on OFI’s result at AEK later on Sunday, they can remain within two points of the sixth-placed Cretan side, who occupy the last Playoff spot.
Xanthi, who also have 29 points, are still in the running as well - alongside Asteras Tripolis who have 30 points, so if OFI lose at AEK it will go down to the final Matchday of the regular season to decide which of those three takes the final Playoff berth.

Meanwhile in Magnesia, struggling Volos were held to a goalless draw at home by Larissa at the Panthessaliko Stadium.
Chances were at a premium in what was a low-quality encounter between two sides who have really struggled in the second half of the season.
The result means that both teams move on to 27 points but also remain unmoved in terms of their position in the Super League standings, with Larissa in 11th place and Volos 12th.
