On Wednesday, Panathinaikos released this following statement:

“”Panathinaikos announces the signing of Dutch midfielder Yassin Ayoub, who has signed a 3.5-year contract.”

Ayoub, who holds dual Dutch and Moroccan citizenship, was born in Morocco. He was pictured arriving at Athens International Airport yesterday.

The 25-year-old midfielder joins Panathinaikos as a free agent after he terminated his contract with Feyenoord in the Netherlands.

Shortly after signing for Panathinaikos, Ayoub shared his emotions from the transfer:

“Panathinaikos is a very big club. In the last few years, Panathinaikos has had problems, but it remains a great organisation. When I was young, I always heard about Panathinaikos, and I enjoyed watching the team in Europe. I have searched the internet about Panathinaikos, reading about the club’s history and important victories. I want to take this club back to its rightful place. Personally, I want to win the championship with Panathinaikos, but let’s take things slowly. I’m not the best footballer in the world, but I am a smart player. I know how to unlock a tight defence. I am constantly thinking about how to solve my team’s problems during matches.”

At Feyenoord, Ayoub struggled for minutes in the current campaign, only playing in three Eredivisie matches and two UEFA Europa League games. He had transferred to Feyenoord from Utrecht in the summer of 2018.
