It was a thrilling game at the AEL FC Arena between Larissa and Panetolikos in the opening match of round 20 in the Greek Super League. The visitors shocked the home crowd as Abiola Dauda, who recently moved from Larissa to Panetolikos a few days ago, struck first in the 28th minute after dribbling past the goalkeeper and slotting the ball into the net.

Panetolikos, who have struggled this season, did not stop there, and it was Duada again who punished his former team in the 63rd minute when his left-footed strike gave the visitors a 0-2 lead.

It was smooth sailing for Panetolikos until the 79th minute when the game turned in Larissa’s favor. A handball in the penalty area resulted in a spot-kick for the hosts, and Amr Warda, a former Panetolikos man, stepped up to put Larissa back into the match. Just six minutes later, Larissa were awarded another penalty kick when Frederico Duarte brought down Warda, and the Egyptian made no mistake for a second time from 11 meters.

Panetolikos were reduced to ten men in the 89th minute when Angelos Tsingaras was handed a second yellow card. The result remained at the final whistle with Panetolikos missing out on a big opportunity to move six points clear of bottom of the table Panionios.

Despite fighting back for a draw, Larissa will be disappointed in the result as they sit in ninth with 24 points, just two points behind sixth-placed Aris.
