The Milwaukee Bucks have crashed out of the NBA playoffs following a devastating 112-96 defeat against the Celtics at Boston’s TD Garden on Saturday night.

After forcing a decisive seventh game of the series following a heroic performance in game six, Antetokounmpo couldn’t steer his Milwaukee teammates into the second round despite a strong 22-point performance.

In a series that featured seven home wins, a slow start proved costly for Milwaukee as the Bucks were forced to play catchup for nearly the entirety of the game after Boston surged to a 30-17 lead in the first quarter.

Despite trimming the Boston lead to single digits in the second quarter, Milwaukee couldn’t reclaim the lead in the second frame as the Bucks’ play lacked the conviction that had helped Milwaukee take care of business at home.

With the Bucks losing the series 4-3, the first-round exit marks the second consecutive year and the third time in Antetokounmpo’s NBA career that the club have crashed out of the playoffs in the first round.

While a loss to the Celtics wouldn’t have been as notable had Boston been at full health, the reality is the Bucks failed to take advantage of an opportunity that saw Boston play shorthanded with the likes of Kyrie Irving and Gordon Hayward unavailable for the Celtics due to injury.

With the playoff exit likely viewed as a disappointment in Milwaukee, the Bucks head into the off-season with plenty of questions to be answered; including the uncertainty around the future of the Bucks coaching duties and who the front office will bring in to reinforce the starting lineup.
