PAOK signed Charisis in the summer of 2015 from PAS Giannina, but the midfielder struggled to break into PAOK’s starting eleven which saw him spend season long loan periods away from Thessaloniki. He was loaned out to Belgian club Sint-Truidense in 2017 and continued his career in Belgium again in 2018 with a loan deal with Kortrijk. With Charis not in Lucescu’s plans for the new season, the player decided to terminate his contract with PAOK and the 24-year-old signed a two-year deal with Atromitos as a free agent.

Charisis’ move to Atromitos from PAOK follows the same path of Dimitris Chatziisaias, Amr Warda, Efthymis Koulouris, and Dimitris Giannoulis. Although the aforementioned all joined Atromitos from PAOK on loan deals and not permanent moves, Charisis is yet another player to take the road from Toumba to Peristeri.

Dimitrios Chatziisaias has spent the past two seasons at Atromitos on loan from PAOK where he has made 55 appearances across all competitions. The centre-back struggled for game time in Thessaloniki, making just eight appearances for PAOK throughout the 2016/17 season.

In January of 2017, PAOK signed talented Egyptian midfielder Amr Warda on a 3.5-year deal. Warda was loaned out to Atromitos in August of 2017, where he would spend a season-long loan spell, in which he had an outstanding season. Warda was awarded with the Super League’s Foreign Footballer of the Year honour for 2017/18. When returning back to PAOK for the start of the 2018/19 campaign, Warda looked set to play a major role in PAOK’s squad however, disciplinary issues resulted in Warda being sent back out on-loan to Atromitos for the second half of the campaign.

Efthymis Koulouris’ move from PAOK to Atromitos last summer resulted in a career best season for the Greek striker. His talents did not go unnoticed and he was rewarded with a move abroad to French outfit Toulouse. After being the back-up striker to Aleksandar Prijovic throughout his time at PAOK, Koulouris lead the attacking line at Atromitos, where he managed to claim the Super League’s golden boot with 19 league goals. In his standout season, he netted 25 goals from 35 appearances across all competitions. The loan move paid dividends for PAOK as they sold Koulouris for a reported 3.2 million euros to Toulouse.

Dimitris Giannoulis signed for PAOK in 2014 from Vataniakos. The young left-back was sent on loan to Pierikos, Veria, and Anorthosis, before making a loan move to Atromitos during the 2017/18 season. The 23-year old signed a two-year loan deal with the Peristeri outfit, however, his time with Atromitos was cut short, as PAOK requested for the left-back to re-join the club in the second half of this past season. He helped the Thessalonikis in a time of need when the club’s captain, Adelinho Vieirinha, suffered a season-ending injury. Like Koulouris, Giannoulis spent a successful spell at Atromitos and was rewarded with a call-up to the Greek national team.
