In the previous two rounds, Greece pulled off two memorable comebacks to defeat Finland and Lithuania, but Spain simply had too much class. Having failed to generate any kind of consistent offense throughout proceedings, the Greeks were second best and will now play in the bronze medal match against Slovenia, while the Spanish prepare to take on Turkey in the grand final.

Nikos Rogkavopoulos, notching 13 points, was the only Greek player to reach double figures. On the other hands, Spain had two players on fire, as Santiago Aldama (19 points) and Usman Garuba (18 points) caught the eye.

The bronze medal game against Slovenia will take place at 19:00 local time on Sunday.

THE MATCH

Greece initially made a superb start to proceedings. In the first quarters, the players were solid at both ends of the court, opening up a 20-12 lead.

However, as the match progressed, Spain slowly gained control and got back to within two points at the break.

The final two periods were disastrous for Greece. All of a sudden, the Spanish were completely bossing the game, winning the third quarter 25-10 to practically put the game out of reach. They then completed the job by claiming the fourth frame 11-8.
