Giakoumakis snatches last-gasp Atromitos win in Agrinio

A late goal sealed a 1-0 win for Atromitos at Panetolikos in the Super League, while Xanthi impressed with a 3-1 victory against Volos NFC on the road.

Atromitos, who got back to winning ways last week in the Super League with a dramatic 2-1 victory against Asteras Tripolis in Peristeri, gained momentum in Agrinio as a last-gasp goal from Petros Giakoumakis secured a 1-0 victory at struggling Panetolikos.
Panetolikos have only won one of their 18 league matches so far.
It looked as though the game was heading for a draw but, in the fourth minute of stoppage time, Giakoumakis firmly headed Rodrigo Galo’s corner into the right corner of the net.
As a result of this win, Atromitos climb to sixth place in the Super League with 25 points, while Panetolikos are still in 13th spot with eight points on the board.
Xanthi triumph in Volos
Xanthi tallied their second consecutive victory in the Super League with an important 3-1 triumph at Volos NFC.
Dimosthenis Baxevanidis opened the scoring with a wonderful volley from long range. In first-half stoppage time, Volos had a golden opportunity to equalise, but Juan Muniz’s penalty was comfortably saved by Carlos Abad.
Volos did eventually equalise in the 56th minute through Erik Jendrisek. However, after Evangelos Oikonomou was shown a second yellow card, Xanthi scored two more goals as Eduardo struck gold from the right flank and Franco Ferrari contrived to turn the ball into his own net.
Xanthi are fifth in the standings with 26 points, five behind third-placed AEK, while Volos are down in 11th.
