After being named the NBA’s Most Valuable Player last season, Giannis Antetokounmpo is making a case for a repeat with an impressive start to the new campaign.
Antetokounmpo’s exploits have the Milwaukee Bucks back atop the Eastern Conference with a 17-3 record, which is also tied with the Los Angeles Lakers for the overall league lead.
Despite his eye-opening stats, Antetokounmpo never appears to be interested in self-praise but his dominant start to the season certainly deserves one as the Bucks currently ride an 11-game win streak..
Averaging 30.9 points, 13.4 rebounds, 5.9 assists, 1.5 steals, and 1.4 blocks per game this season, Antetokounmpo is already out-performing his numbers from last season. A major factor is the streak Antetokounmpo went on to start the season as the Greek Freak posted a double-double in 19-straight games. Despite ultimately falling well short of Bill Walton’s record of 34-straight games with a double-double, Antetokounmpo continues to make headlines in the NBA despite playing in one of the smallest markets in the league.
Antetokounmpo’s strong start to the season has already guided the Bucks to their best November in franchise history, but the team will be hoping that the rest of the season will also go down as the best in the team’s 51-year-history.
