In the opening singles match, world number 486 Michail Pervolarakis came in as a massive underdog against world number 48 John Millman. The Greek surprisingly took the first set 6-4, but quickly dropped the second 1-6. Neither player was able to break serve in the third set, which was ultimately decided by a tiebreak. Millman prevailed 7-1 in that tiebreak to win the match and give Team Australia a 1-0 lead overall.

World number six Stefanos Tsitsipas then took on world number 29 Nick Kyrgios of Australia. With neither player facing a single break point in the first set, it went to a tiebreaker. The Aussie prevailed 9-7 to take the first set. Tsitsipas held two break points in the second set, but was unable to convert. Nevertheless, the Greek took the set in a tiebreak, which he won 7-3 to force a decisive third set. The third set was also decided by a tiebreaker, which Kyrgios won 7-5 to clinch a victory for Team Australia, as they then went up 2-0. This was the second time Kyrgios and Tsitsipas faced each other, and Kyrgios has now won both of those matches in final set tiebreakers.

Chris Guccione and John Peers then won the doubles rubber 6-3 6-4 over Markos Kalovelonis and Petros Tsitsipas to give Team Australia a 3-0 win.

This tie had little significance for both countries, as Australia had already clinched first place in Group F, and Greece had been eliminated after successive losses against Canada and Germany. Australia will now face Great Britain in the quarterfinals.
