Greece fall to Russia in concluding group game
In the concluding group game of the Women’s European Water Polo Championship, Greece came up short against Russia, conceding a 12-7 defeat.

Initially, the Greeks had the advantage over the Russians, claiming the first period 3-1. However, as the match progressed, the opponents gradually moved into the driving seat.
In the second stanza, Russia reduced the deficit by one goal, before claiming the third period 3-0 and the concluding frame 4-1 to secure a 12-7 victory.
As a result of this defeat, Greece finish in third place of Group A, having earned nine points from five games. Russia took second spot with 12 points.
Greece will face Spain in the quarter-finals on Tuesday.
Eleni Xenaki and Christina Tsoukala both scored two goals each in the game.
