Giorgos Donis’ youthful side, who continue to raise eyebrows with their winning form after having been written off as relegation candidates before the big kick-off, secured their fourth victory in as many games thanks to goals from Argyris Kampetsis, defender Ilias Chatzitheodoridis and Mattias Johansson

Striker Kampetsis, who is just 19, opened the scoring after just five minutes thanks to an assist from the inspired Greece Under-21 winger Tasos Chatzigiovannis as the Greens made a positive start full of attacking intent against a team who have one only once in their four matches so far.

After that Levadiakos battled to get back into the game but they could not live with Panathinaikos’ lively approach and direct running.

Chatzigiovannis was at the heart of everything for the home side and he almost made it 2-0 in the 39th minute but found the post with a snapshot instead of the back of the net.

Not to be deterred, however, Chatzigiovannis kept pressing forward whenever in possession and he was the architect of Panathinaikos’ second goal on the stroke of half-time, picking out the run of Chatzitheodoridis with a great cross for the young defender to slot home from close range.

The pace of the game dropped considerably in the second half but Levadiakos could still not find a way back into the match and Johansson added a third deep into added time.

For Panathinaikos, it seems everything Donis’ team touch turns to gold right now and he will be eager for that to continue, as well as the clubs fans who have suffered of late in the wake of the Greens huge financial problems.
