Matchday 10 in the Greek Basket League featured plenty of action towards the bottom-end of the league table with a handful of relegation-threatened clubs in action on Saturday.

In Thessaloniki, Giannis Kastritis’ debut as Aris head coach didn’t quite go to plan as the Autokratoras came up short against Holargos. Meanwhile, Kolossos got their first win since October at the expense of fellow strugglers Rethymno Cretan Kings.

KOLOSSOS 74-63 RETHYMNO CRETAN KINGS

Kolossos snapped a five-game losing skid with their defeat of Rethymno in Rhodes as the early fixture in the Basket League.

An 36-21 run in the first half set Kolossos on their way to just their second win of the season with JayVaughn Pinkston and Stevie Browning leading the way with 14 points each.

IFAISTOS LIMNOU 81-74 KYMIS

In Limnou, Ifaistos held-off a late surge from Kymis to remain unbeaten at home so far this season.

Sean Evans’ 17 points and 14 rebounds led the way for Ifaistos, who dominated the game in the second and third quarters en route to outscoring Kymis 37-18 during the two quarters

Kymis made a late push in the fourth quarter, but the 37-27 run from the visitors wasn’t even enough to cut the deficit to single digits.

LAVRIO 73-85 PROMITHEAS

Nikos Gkikas led the way as Promitheas dispatched Lavrio away from home to pick up their fourth win in their last five league outings.

Promitheas, who ended short losing skid in the Basketball Champions League midweek, used a dominant performance in both the first and fourth quarters en route to a victory that takes the Patras to the top of the table overnight.

Gkikas managaed 17 points in the win while Lavrio were led by Milan Milosevic’s 14-point effort in the loss.

ARIS 58-59 HOLARGOS

Aris showed signs of improvement but were far from the standard required to turn their season around as Giannis Kastritis’ tenure on the touchline began with a loss at home against Holargos.

Kastritis’ men seemed to be energized at the start of the game thanks to a 22-10 run in the first frame, but Holargos slowly began to take over as the game wore on.

Holargos’ comeback was complete in the fourth quarter as Jermaine Lowe’s 14-point performance powered the promoted side to their third straight win.
