Olympiacos are edging towards their maiden Super League crown since 2017. On Sunday, the visitors earned a potentially vital victory in Thessaloniki, as an own goal from Dimitris Giannoulis in the early stages of the second half gifted Olympiacos a 1-0 triumph over PAOK. Olympiacos now boast a commanding five-point lead in first place of the table.

It was also the first time when Pedro Martins defeated PAOK as Olympiacos manager.

During the regular season, Olympiacos only conceded three goals away from home, letting in an average of 0.23 markers per game - a new Super League record. In addition, since Dimitris Emmanouilidis equalised for Panionios in Nea Smyrni on November 23rd, Olympiacos have embarked on an eight-game streak of not conceding any goals on the road in the domestic championship. Two of those away matches were played against AEK and PAOK.

Assuming they don’t lose to lowly Panetolikos in Piraeus at the weekend, Olympiacos will finish the regular season unbeaten, following in the steps of PAOK who won the 2018/2019 title undefeated. However, unlike last season, playoffs will take place this year. Either OFI, Asteras Tripolis, Atromitos or Xanthi will join Olympiacos, PAOK, AEK, Panathinaikos and Aris in the championship playoffs.

Jose Sa, 27, has been the Olympiacos goalkeeper for all league games so far. The Portuguese custodian has only conceded a grand total of nine goals in 25 matches while picking up 17 clean sheets.
