The 22-year-old on-loan PAOK forward scored his third goal in as many games two minutes before half-time to settle a tightly-contested match in which Damir Canadi’s hosts did just about enough to claim maximum points for the second time in three matches.

Lamia battled manfully but their chances of getting anything from the game diminished following the 58th-minute sending off of Elini Dimoutsos after the former Greek youth international picked up a second yellow card, although they did come close five minutes from full-time when Brazilian defender Vanderson hit the woodwork with a speculative shot.

The result means unbeaten Atromitos occupy fourth spot with seven points after their opening three matches, while Lamia are still looking for their first point of the season having suffered three defeats.

Xanthi frustrated by Panaitolikos

Xanthi 1 - 1 Panetolikos
Jendrisek 42'
Morar 21'

Further north on Sunday, the points were shared between Xanthi and Panaitolikos after their Matchday 3 encounter ended 1-1.

Romanian striker Vlad Morar stunned the home crowd by giving the visitors a 21st-minute lead, but Xanthi’s ever-reliable Slovakian striker Erik Jendrišek levelled matters from the penalty spot three minutes before half-time.

Xanthi laid siege to the visitors goal in the second half, but Christos Lisgaras hit the woodwork after 57 minutes while Panaitolikos goalkeeper Dimitris Kiriakidis also made a string of superb saves to deny the home side victory.
