Olympiacos cannot find any consistency at all. On matchday eight, the Erythrolefki tallied a confident win against qualification rivals Zalgiris in Piraeus, but they failed to build on that as they conceded a disappointing three-point defeat to Bayern Munich in Germany. Olympiacos did boast an eight-point lead before the fourth quarter began.

Wade Baldwin was the leading player for Olympiacos in Munich as he tallied 19 points. Nikola Milutinov (14 points), Giorgos Printezis (12 points) and Kostas Papanikolaou (10 points) also reached double figures for Kestutis Kemzura’s troops.

Olympiacos will next play against ALBA in Berlin on Thursday, while Bayern host Panathinaikos a day later. The Greeks hold a 3-6 record in the EuroLeague.

THE MATCH

Initially, Bayern made the stronger start as they won the first period 23-17, but Olympiacos came storming back in the second to win it by seven points and gain a slender one-point advantage.

Olympiacos were firmly in control after the third quarter as they claimed it 19-12. However, just as they seemed to be closing in on an important victory, matters fell apart in the fourth frame.

Bayern got back on level terms with two minutes remaining.

Playing with the momentum, the Germans finished in the ascendancy, dominating the closing plays to earn a vital win. Bayern now have a 4-5 record in the competition.
