In PAOK’s most recent derby encounter against Panathinaikos, the talented Brazilian winger was left out of Abel Ferreira’s final matchday squad of 18 players. The week prior the youngster wasn’t able to travel to Volos due to muscular discomfort he felt throughout the last training session before PAOK left for their away fixture, however, this week he was fully fit and trained normally but was again left out of the squad.

The pacey attacker had his breakout year with PAOK last season, in which he made a total of 39 appearances across all competitions, managing to score seven goals and provide 11 assists. However, he has struggled this time around, not contributing with any goals or assists in nine matches.

REPORTS INDICATE POSSIBLE JANUARY EXIT

The fact that Jaba was left out of the matchday squad is an indication that his days in Thessaloniki could be numbered. Reports have indicated that the out-of-favour Brazilian could seek a transfer request in January. Jaba believes that he is good enough to be a regular starting wide player for PAOK, however Ferreira currently has a different view.

At this stage, the media have suggested that Portuguese club Sporting Lisbon have inquired about Jaba’s situation, but just like most other clubs they won’t be willing to trigger his release clause of 20 million euros. According to Transfermarkt, his current market value is worth eight million.
