AEK will have to play without Melissanidis inside the Olympic Stadium on Sunday. In March, the Enosi managed to defeat Aris in the first leg of the semi-final by a score of 2-1 in Athens, but Melissanidis subsequently received an eight-month ban from attending games by the Hellenic Football Federation (EPO) after he was found guilty of entering the referee’s dressing room during the half-time break. The start of the second half was consequently delayed by around 25 minutes.

Initially, AEK had hoped that Melissanidis would be granted permission to attend the final by the EPO, but this didn’t happen. The 69-year-old businessman reportedly decided to respect his punishment and miss the match.

Both Dimitris’ brother and son will be present at the OAKA against Olympiacos.

The Greek Cup final between AEK and Olympiacos is scheduled to take place on Sunday at the OAKA at 21:00 local time. Originally, the showdown was due to be held on July 26 at the Georgios Kamaras Stadium, but it was later postponed as a consequence of the authorities not being able to guarantee the safety of the participants and fans outside of the ground.
