Just two weeks ago, the Thrylos supposedly ended their interest in 25-year old Meriah after CS Sfaxien demanded more money for his transfer, but Olympiacos finally managed to get their man.

In the early hours of Saturday morning, Tunisia international centre-back Meriah was spotted at Athens International Airport, before he travelled to the Olympiacos offices and signed a four-year contract through to 2022. According to various reports, Olympiacos paid CS Sfaxien two million euros in order to acquire Meriah’s services.

Olympiacos announced the deal with this statement on their social media platforms:

“Yassine Meriah welcome to Olympiacos!”

Meriah set out his targets with Olympiacos in an interview with the club: “Olympiacos are a big club, so we have to achieve all of our goals in the championship, European tournaments and the cup,” said Meriah. “Olympiacos have great fans. We will give 100% in all matches in order to win.”

Previously in his career, Meriah has only played in his native Tunisia, representing AS Ariana, ES Metlaoui and CS Sfaxien. Meriah has scored one goal in 20 Tunisian national team appearances and competed at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.
