Horror Start to the Season at OAKA

After last weekend’s bitterly disappointing 1-2 loss to Larissa at OAKA, Panathinaikos remain winless at home so far this season. This comes after four home games (of which one was held at Rizoupoli).

The Greens had already lost to OFI (1-3) and Xanthi (0-1), before the loss to the Thessaly club last weekend. The only point the Trifylli have registered at home came in the Eternal Derby against Olympiacos, where a late Yohan Mollo penalty was enough to earn a point.

A mere point from four games represents a very poor return and it will not get any easier as they will host AEK in their next home match.

Giorgos Donis’ team has enjoyed more success on the road so far this season, as they have won twice, drawn once, and lost once. Panathinaikos also emerged victorious in the Greek Cup tie against Panachaiki in Patra midweek.

Kappa Retro Shirt Unveiled

Panathinaikos have also unveiled a retro shirt in partnership with Italian kit manufacturer Kappa, which has become the team’s fourth kit. The jersey which features vertical green and white stripes is a throwback to a shirt worn by the Greens during the 1993-94 season (25 years ago - a quarter of a century anniversary).

It was unveiled by club icon Dimitris Saravakos, who was an integral member of the club’s Greek Cup triumph that season.

The two white stripes, either side of the one green stripe down the middle, is in line with the club’s slogan “Back to the Green Future.” It will only be worn during Greek Cup matches this season and it was worn for the first time in the 1-3 away win over Panachaiki in Patra.
