Panathinaikos unveil Aitor signing
Aitor Cantalapiedra has signed a three-year contract with Panathinaikos, the Athens-based organisation has confirmed.

The club released this following statement on Wednesday afternoon:
“Panathinaikos FC announces the signing of Spanish midfielder Aitor Cantalapiedra. The agreement with the 24-year-old lasts for three seasons.”
“Panathinaikos is a new challenge for me in my career,” stated Cantalapiedra after signing the contract. “This is a large club with great history, Panathinaikos is known across Europe. I felt fine at Twente, but I want to compete in European competitions and I can achieve this with Panathinaikos. I spoke to Carlitos before signing, we were teammates at Villarreal previously. He informed me that everything is good here. The defining point was how much Xavi Roca wanted me to sign for Panathinaikos, I feel as though I am an important part of their plan. My main position is on the right wing, but I can also play as a second striker. I like to get in between the opponent’s lines, dribbling the ball and shooting.”
Highly rated, Cantalapiedra enjoyed a successful 2019/2020 campaign with Twente, registering seven goals and six assists in the Eredivisie. In 2015, the Spaniard began his senior career with Barcelona, before he subsequently moved to Villarreal, Sevilla and Twente. The versatile right winger can compete on either flank or down the middle.
