Needing a win to stay alive in the series and force a decisive third match, Olympiacos got off to a great start, taking the first set by a score of 22-25. The Erythrolefki then led 16-19 in the second set, but Panathinaikos came back to win it 25-22. The hosts then dominated the third and fourth sets, winning them 25-15 and 25-13 to prevail 3-1 overall over Olympiacos and win their first league title in 14 years.

Panathinaikos have now won their 19th A1 Men’s Volley League title in club history, ending Olympiacos’ run of two consecutive titles. This comes after Panathinaikos also won this season’s League Cup back in February. It should be noted that although the Final-4 of this year’s Greek Cup has yet to be played, Panathinaikos did not qualify for that stage.

Finals series results:

Match 1, July 9: Olympiacos - Panathinaikos 0-3

Match 2, July 12: Panathinaikos - Olympiacos 3-1
