Having started as overwhelming favourites to win, reigning champions Panathinaikos produced a stunning attacking display against struggling Iraklis in Athens, scoring a huge 130 points to protect their unbeaten run. Panathinaikos have comfortably won all eight Basket League games so far.

At the moment, Panathinaikos are temporarily being coached by Giorgos Vovoras, but newly-appointed manager Rick Pitino will be at the helm when the Prasini face Baskonia in the EuroLeague on Thursday.

Panathinaikos immediately burst into life against Iraklis by registering an impressive 36 points in the first period alone. Interestingly, the second quarter was the only frame in which Panathinaikos failed to score at least 30 points.

Jimmer Fredette tallied 24 points for Panathinaikos, while Jacob Wiley (18 points), Deshaun Thomas (16 points), Ian Vougioukas (16 points), Konstantinos Mitoglou (15 points) and Nikos Pappas (12 points) also reached double figures. 10 assists allowed Pappas to achieve a double-double.

Olivier Hanlan scored 24 points for Iraklis, who have now lost four successive games in the championship. Iraklis currently have a 3-5 record.

Panathinaikos notably nailed 21 of 34 three-pointers - a Basket League record. Fredette converted six of them.

The Athenians’ next game in the Basket League will take place in Rhodes against Kolossos. Iraklis will host Lavrio in their match.
