OLYMPIACOS CLAIM 45TH TITLE

There’s no stopping Olympiacos now. Even if PAOK are given seven points back by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), Olympiacos cannot be caught in first place, with the Erythrolefki currently boasting an overwhelming 22-point buffer over the Dikefalos tou Vorra. In truth, Olympiacos weren’t at their best against OFI in Piraeus, but two goals from Ahmed Hassan powered them to a 2-1 triumph. Olympiacos are aiming to become the third team in history to complete an entire domestic league campaign unbeaten.

AEK FINALLY WIN AT TOUMBA

The Enosi are determined to reach the UEFA Champions League. Understanding the importance of the game, AEK were almost flawless against PAOK at the Toumba Stadium, dominating the battle from start to finish with Massimo Carrera outdoing Abel Ferreira in terms of tactics. With the first half drawing to a close, Dmytro Chygrynskiy headed Marko Livaja’s corner beyond the flapping Alexandros Paschalakis, before the latter subsequently converted a late penalty to secure the 2-0 win. AEK are now above PAOK in second place with a superior head-to-head record.

Interestingly, if we disregard the 2017/2018 meeting when AEK were awarded a 3-0 victory on paper, this was the first time since the 2016/2017 Super League playoffs when the Kitrinomavri scored a goal at the Toumba and emerged victorious. AEK’s last win against PAOK in Thessaloniki had been recorded on 14 May 2017 (1-0).

PANATHINAIKOS CLAIM MAIDEN PLAYOFF VICTORY

It took five rounds, but in the end, Panathinaikos did tally their first victory of the 2019/2020 Super League playoffs.

Competing against a heavily weakened Aris side, the Athenians calmly earned all three points at the Olympic Stadium, with Dimitris Kourbelis and Dimitris Kolovetsios hitting the target. Panathinaikos are almost certain to finish in fourth spot, as they boast a healthy 12-point advantage over Aris and find themselves trailing PAOK and AEK by nine points.
