TZOLIS CREATES HISTORY

A moment which Christos Tzolis will never forget. On only his second senior appearances, the 18-year-old came to the rescue for PAOK against OFI at the Toumba Stadium, displaying excellent technique to net a crucial equaliser. It’s worth noting that Tzolis managed to score 19 goals in just 23 Super League U19 matches this season as PAOK cruised to the crown.

Interestingly, Tzolis became the youngest player to score a Super League goal during the 2019/2020 campaign, hitting the target in Thessaloniki when 18 years, four months and 21 days old. Here are the youngest scorers in the championship this season:

Christos Tzolis, 18 years, 4 months, 21 days, PAOK - OFI (20/06/2020)

Giorgos Vagiannidis, 18 years, 5 months, 5 days, Panathinaikos - Panetolikos (16/02/2020)

Dimitris Emmanouilidis, 19 years, 0 months, 29 days, Panionios - Olympiacos (23/11/2019)

Juan Jose Perea, 19 years, 8 months, 17 days, Panathinaikos - AEK (10/11/2019)

Lefteris Lyratzis, 19 years, 10 months, 12 days, OFI - Volos (04/01/2020)

EL ARABI ON COURSE FOR OLYMPIACOS RECORD

Youssef El Arabi cannot be stopped. Since joining Olympiacos last summer, the experienced Moroccan forward has been creating huge problems for opposing defences, scoring with alarming regularity. On Sunday, the 33-year-old registered his 19th goal in the Super League for the Erythrolefki, helping his team comfortably defeat Panathinaikos 3-0 at the Karaiskakis Stadium. Olympiacos are now 19 points clear in top spot.

Overall, when taking all competitions into account, El Arabi is averaging a goal every 82 minutes of play! Boasting 26 goals across all tournaments, the prolific striker only needs five more to become the highest scoring foreigner for Olympiacos in a single season. Lajos Detari currently holds the record with 30 markers in the 1988/1989 season.

AEK CONTINUE TO DROP HOME POINTS

AEK aren’t helping themselves. Having pulled ahead of PAOK last week, the Enosi needed to defeat Aris at the Olympic Stadium to protect second place, but they contrived to miss a hatful of chances during an entertaining 2-2 draw. Moreover, AEK had to come from behind twice at the OAKA, with Sergio Araujo and Nelson Oliveira equalising. AEK are level on 56 points with PAOK in the race for UEFA Champions League football.

For all of their progress with Massimo Carrera in charge, AEK are still suffering from defensive lapses and profligacy in front of goal, problems which were on show for all to see against Aris at the weekend. So far, AEK are yet to win in the championship playoffs at home, drawing with Panathinaikos and Aris. AEK also dropped two important points in March at Panionios on the final day of the regular season.
